David's cross-cultural upbringing (NYC, Honolulu, Boston, HK, Taiwan, China) gave a unique foundation to craft a personal filmic style that is inherently western, yet distinctively Asian.
David's commercial film directing and acting experience spans over a decade shooting projects for global brands such as Kohler, Audi, Mazda, Nissan, and General Motors. And directed the music video for Far East Movement's "Freal Luv," which reached over 12 million views on youtube. He also directed Identity, a short film that received special nominations at the inaugural Hangzhou International Film Festival, and won for Chevy Equinox RS "House of Horror" at the Top Digital Awards.
He credits screenwriter Wang Hui-Ling (Ang Lee's preferred screenwriter and Golden Horse Award Winner) as his biggest inspiration and had the fortunate opportunity to meet her through family friends. Since their chance meeting, she has taught David the key points of story telling and continues to mentor him along his filmmaking journey.
When David isn't shooting, he is training, traveling, scuba diving or exploring new techniques in photography, and loving on rescue dogs.
